Teachers Tackling Tough Topics

The world of a classroom teacher is a place like no other. Teachers spend hours upon hours in a single room with twenty or thirty children they haven’t raised, but are helping to shape. They are tasked with what can feel like literally everything… from playing nurse and counselor to teaching division and which letters make what sounds. Teaching can be one of the most rewarding jobs on the planet while simultaneously being unbelievably overwhelming. Toss in the tumultuous state of our nation and the various opinions and belief systems of the diverse group of kids in a classroom and… where do we even begin? The world is a diverse and changing place, and it’s hard to keep up. That’s where I hope this blog can help. This blog will focus on curating book lists and discussion tips for teachers tackling tough topics in the elementary classroom. Because when it comes to talking to kids about complicated and challenging topics, there’s no better place to start than a book.
